ABOUT THIS TUTORIAL

Come and Get Your Love by Redbone is maybe the world’s best kept secret when it comes to first dance songs. No one can keep from dancing, let alone smiling, when they hear the bass line of this iconic disco era groove. Because this song has a quicker pace than a typical slow song, you will be having fun and feeling lighthearted with every step you take. This tutorial will teach you how to execute all the beginner-friendly steps in the video above, and includes an optional LIFT after the musical break, as well as many tips and tricks for simplifying and/or shortening the dance to suit your comfort level with dancing. BONUS: because all of my tutorials teach you how to do each step individually, without throwing you in the deep-end of choreography first, you will have the skills to apply these steps to other music for dancing later on in the night (and throughout your marriage!) If you were on the fence about choosing this song, don’t hesitate. There is too much fun to be had!

Frequently Asked Questions
About This Tutorial

  • Of yourse I’m going to say YES, you can learn to dance for your wedding online and quickly, even if you've never danced a day in your life. Like learning a new language, learning to dance takes effort and consistency. You won't be able to just watch the videos and then magically be able to dance if you don't actually practice the steps. But I promise, this is still the easiest-to-learn wedding dance tutorial that exists online, IMHO. Some couples will find this online method of learning even easier than in-person lessons because you will see exactly how the steps are supposed to look before you even try them.

  • This tutorial takes the average beginner couple approximately two to three hours to complete, including practice time between steps. If you have the time, I recommend focusing on one step per practice session. It will take you a little less than a week to complete if you break it apart into one or two sections per day. If you are a marathon learner or test-crammer, you might set aside several hours on the weekend to learn each step in the course before putting it together into choreography. You’ll still need to practice the dance leading up to your wedding to build muscle memory!

  • You’ll have access for a year from the date of purchase. You don’t need a year to learn, and most couples do all their learning in a compressed time frame once they feel the pressure of their looming wedding date. But I want you to be able to enroll when it makes sense for you and work on this at your leisure, without worrying about any dates except your wedding date. Wedding planning is stressful! Learning to dance is supposed to be fun!
